Just some spontaneous fan art for ~maddoxmisery's comic "Dead Witch"

Experimenting in just pure black and white. It started as a pencil sketch, then a quick brush-pen inking, and finally a lot of mucking about with Corel Photopaint. Its a bit messy, some of the body proportions are way off ,and I'm getting tired of tinkering, so here it is to get your feedback.

Thanks! But you are too kind. It was just a quickly slapped together experimental pic.

Yeah, I guess so. I've been told I should post all the sketchy crappy stuff I don't ever show.

I really like the scene. With her cloak sprawled out and the black background with a white foreground. The anatomy is also fantastic.

Thanks! After reviewing it, I'm thinking parts of her arms and legs are too short or too long -- I could pass it off as artistic style, but it wasn't intentional. I think I'm going to do more pure black and white art, just because b/w is so powerfully engaging.

Oh, thanks! But is it ever difficult to do! I had to do a lot of digital editing after I scanned the original ink. The real skill is in being able to do this without edits and do it cleanly. I'm working on reaching that goal.

Awesome B/W work! You got those textures down very nicely. It starts to get a bit messy...or moreover excessive but you manage to keep the potential insanity at bay with the slightly different textures (gloves/pants/boots/jacket/hair). Nice job.

I'd recommend showing the coat edges completely and more fully in this instance because I like the contour of the figure that you have going so far and that would give the image more pop, as it were....my personal preference. ;)

Perhaps also taking a little white out of the left on top area around her left hand (adding more black). It's loosing it's clarity. This will help define and separate the ink work of the hand from the coat.

Contrast enhances separation between things...in this case you have to consider whether to add more white or more black between that in which you want to separate.

Those boots....love the details! Great ink work for something so spontaneous as you say. ;)
